How to Season Wok: A new wok may come with some machine oil stain (during manufacturing). After the first wash to clean it, we can then start seasoning. Thoroughly heat up the wok, and when it turns to a matte grey, that's normal for the heated steel. Now we can put in some vegetable or sunflower oil, not too much, just a thin layer coating the inner surface. Heat the oil to smoking point and maintain that status for approximately 40 seconds, tilting and turning the wok to distribute the oil evenly in every corner during this period. Lastly, clean the wok again without using any detergent. Congratulations! You now have a seasoned wok.
